Importance Of Belonging To A Community
Do you live in a neighborhood where it is the “norm” to ask a neighbor to borrow a cup of milk if you are running low? For many of us, the answer to that question these days is “no.” We may look back to growing up in a neighborhood where leaning on our neighbors was commonplace, but this is no longer the case in the fast-paced (perhaps impatient) world we live in today.
In other words, families and individuals must be very intentional in how they build a sense of community in their everyday lives, whether that be in your child’s school setting, a place of worship, or elsewhere.
“A sense of belonging to a greater community improves your motivation, health, and happiness... You are not alone. There is comfort in that knowledge.”
Whether you are a Houston-native or still unpacking boxes from your move to the Houston-area, it is important to carve out ways that you will curate a sense of community for you as an individual and your family.
What is the community like at Fay?
“Fay has your back, it is a great community. Moving from Mexico to Houston it’s the first time we felt part of a community where we felt welcomed, safe, and loved as a family and our kids.” -Stephanie, Current Fay Parent
“At The Fay School, we have had nothing but good experiences and have become very close with so many families. My favorite part of the Fay Campus is the sense of community.” – Ben, Current Fay Parent
At Fay, there is no common race, religion, culture, or career path that draws parents to enroll their children in our school. Instead, at Fay, one commonality shared by each family who enrolls their child(ren) at The Fay School is the strong sense of community. We call our community the “Fay Family” and this is seen at so many levels.
At Fay, you partner with your child’s teachers to help develop your child into a next generation leader. At Fay, you see our Fay Family in action at Head of School Coffees or by filling out the Fay Feedback Button…we are a culture of open feedback. In the Fay Family, this happens at the student, staff, and parent-level. At Fay, we want to hear from you so we can continue to innovate and remain cutting-edge as one of the premier elementary schools in the nation. We also see this in our Parents’ Club group, where you are encouraged to sign up to volunteer in order to further the mission of The Fay School, but also so that you have the opportunity to develop deeper relationships with other Fay parents that in many cases develop into life-long bonds.
Acceptance. Belonging. Community. Fay Family.
If any of those words resonate with your family’s values then the Fay Family could be the perfect community for you.
