Environmental Responsibility

At Fay, we take our commitment to environmental responsibility seriously – with a healthy dose of playful exploration. Starting each day with outdoor Spark Time to warm up the mind and body. Connecting with nature through Forest Days for Primary students, a formal Outdoor Education curriculum for Elementary students, and Garden Days for all Fay Gators. Taking advantage of impromptu learning opportunities in the Fay Forest, Farm, Backyard, and Meadow. Creating intentional integrations of our curricula with our campus. Practicing our stewardship of the world around us through daily action. Because being a Fay Gator means being a leader – at school and in the community beyond.

Gators Gone Green Magazine

Over the course of their Journalism unit, the Fay Class of 2025 developed an entire magazine exploring environmental responsibility at Fay. Their reporting features writing, art, photography, and design from these Fifth Grade Leaders created from field trips, interviews, and hands-on experience.

Composting with Moonshot

Learning at Fay goes beyond the classroom - and beyond the school year. Through integrated project-based learning (PBL) units, Gators explore real world problems and challenges and apply their studies to concrete outcomes. Our community partnership with Moonshot Compost grew from one such PBL. Fay's Fifth Grade Class of 2022 was our inaugural class to experience the impacts of composting at Fay. See the below Moonshot Diversion Dashboard to see the difference Fay has made after implementing our composting partnership!
