History
In the fall of 1991, in a tranquil Houston home nestled among tall pines on a graceful rolling meadow, a dream was born: to create a school with a unique child-centered philosophy, where children develop fully as children, not as adults in training.
That day, the stately family home of our founder, Marie Fay Evnochides, became The Fay School, marking the beginning of an extraordinary educational institution.
That first year, a small group of young children began a journey of discovery, learning, and growth. The Fay School grew with them, adding a grade level each year to establish a complete early childhood and elementary program through the fifth grade.
Those young "pioneers" moved on to attend Houston's premier upper schools. As they grew, the memories of their exceptional learning experience at The Fay School stayed with them, and gave them the confidence that they were fully prepared – academically and emotionally – to pursue their dreams.
Over the years, we have proven that children thrive in a holistic learning environment, where they are challenged and nurtured to develop intellectually, physically, emotionally, and artistically. When children feel free to explore, discover, create, interact, and play, they learn at wondrous speed.
See for yourself how the dream that began on that fall day in 1991 has become one of the most respected early childhood and elementary programs in Houston.
